Stargaze by SamODJ Stargaze by SamODJ
-Whilst dreams inspire hope, to gaze grasps no falsity. To gaze is to see, to analyse, to view. There is no masquerade here, no hidden meaning. This is, what it is.-

My first piece in a while, made at print resolution so perhaps not up to my usual quality. I've been told this submission agreement tomfoolery is sorted, so i'm considering putting up the print for purchase.

Leave your thoughts.

EDIT: Bordering edits. Second print released.

I love the colors, the combination of shadows and lights is very but very good... the planet texture is beauty and well, no words... the simplicity say everything!

hi, i really like this piece,
the explosion or star or watever is really cool, and i love how the eye flows. didn't notice the ring around the planet until i read about it.
i was wonder, how do u do these?
is it photoshop + putting images and filter together, or are u actually painting these?

either way, it looks great.
the more i look at it now, that ring kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.
i don't think it does much esp cuz of the value it's hard to make out. yo've got blurs going on elsewhere, and these guys jus look like a really weird texture against the painted surface.
might as well get rid of it me thinks.

but yea i really like the border and the text uptop. es coolio.

as for your print problem..
can't u jus delete the deviation? do the rights become yours again after that? i mean, it's not on deviant art anymore, isn't it?
good luck in ze endevors, sir.

Hmm with the ring, it was intentional to make it look more detailed - it contrasts with the smoothness of hte rest of the picture. It also was intedned to add some depth, if on shallow, between the large planet and moon.

Um i dont quite understand what you mean with "s it photoshop + putting images and filter together, or are u actually painting these?"

like are u cutting out images and putting effects on it?
or are u jus painting em with a wacom?

Well mostly painting, but not with a wacom. Most of the neb was painted with a mouse, inc. blur effects. Textures were used to detail some parts.

Actually the gas giant is a filter/texture hybrid.

I really dig the colors you used, as always really :)
The surface of the big planet looks a bit too twirly/liquifyy =p IMO
It's always hard to get something nice out at print res, but I think you suceeded.
Keep it up Sam!

It has a very "epic" feel to it, and it seems like you put alot of feeling and hard work into the whole piece. You should be very proud of yourself, because In my opinion, it's perfect, one of the best I have seen. You stayed away from overused scenes and scenerios, and for that It is very origonal, and definetly something you should make into a print. :+fav: for sure, keep up the great work
