- All volition amounts to this; the remnants of past left to drift through a darkened space. This harbours an even darker tide; one of adversity and affliction. Salvation is almost out of reach to us. Almost. -
A collab that was started a looooooooooong time ago, between myself and . He provided a dynamic terragen piece inc. those structures, which I ignored for too long! So a long overdue apology to him for how late this is in coming. Wanted to get some dark matter in there, a slightly different take on the nebulae found in Terraspace - eventually it ended up looking like the remnant (of something) hence the name.
Credit goes to him, as well as sxc.hu for the cloud pictures and such. Inspiration comes from the EVE Online soundtrack i'm glad to say.
I hope you enjoy this, it's my first large piece in a while. Although another will be arriving soon enough.
EDIT : Update of typography, frame and additions to image.
Very cool. This piece has power. Only thing that really bugs me is the edges of the big cloud. High light mass at the clouds edges would give a dramatic effect and a taste of reality.
Seems there's been a decided lack of worthy comments on deviantart lately, so how about one?
There's something incredibly soothing about this piece to me; as a space artist myself I tend to look for pieces that have meaning to them. A favourite theme of mine is the one of abandoned places in space; and with the name and the image, you have captured this theme perfectly. "A burst of light illuminates the sky beyond the forgotten architecture of a long-lost civilisation", are the words that I'd choose to describe it. Aesthetically, it comes across as flawless and transitionally smooth, which aids to the calm yet brilliant feel to it all. You were right about the dark matter; it ads an extra dimension of wonderment to the image, and helps lead the eye and the imagination from the scenery to the beyond.
A wonderful image, and I know there's more to come.

I want to know how God created this world. I am not intrested in this or that phenomenon. I want to know His thoughts, the rest are details.
