Quick exercise work to tighten up and revert back to my original intention for Below the Asteroids. Overall i'm pleased with the outcome, finding that the lighting is ultimately successful.
Resources from Hameed were again used here, including his asteroid field and I also dabbled with use of his space cloud resource: fantastic for adding those dust clouds.
(Whilst yes, some of the asteroids' lighting is off due to the original rendering of them, i'm happy enough with the feel of the work to overlook that.)
Only constructive criticism I can give is that the asteroids lack texture. Perhap they were meant to look that way. Other than that, it's quite beautiful.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to further play with asteroids, to see if i can unlock some extra uses to their usual implementation. Once I get to grips with 3D i'll be giving it a go.

If it helps, I mean, compositionally this is good for Asteroids because it works. It clicks. It's more of a finer detail and a question of rigorous refinement. I think the way it's presented shows that there's a certain competence with their usage as an element of the overall design. It's good.
Great collision-zone. The flare coming from it is fairly simple, yet realistic. No overly dramatic blasts here. And I agree the lighting is a real winner here, as is the nebula

Ye it would be nice, but the asteroid lighting is a bit off, and I can't say I really enjoy their gold/green tinged colouration. Backdrop and lights are rather nice though.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
